Chasing Your Health

Hi friends,

It’s been a little while since I properly reintroduced myself and the vision behind Chasing Your Health, so let’s do just that.

My name is Chase Merfeld, MS, RDN, LN, CSR—I’m a registered dietitian, certified specialist in renal nutrition, dad, husband, , and firm believer that food connects us all.

You may have noticed I’ve been a little quieter on here lately. That’s because earning my CSR (Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition) credential was a long time in the making. Fewer than 1,000 dietitians in the entire United States currently hold this certification, which makes it both an honor and a responsibility. Preparing for and passing that exam took an enormous amount of energy and stress—and that’s on top of raising a busy 5-year-old, working full-time, teaching college students, and still trying to chase my own health. More on that journey later, but for now just know: it was worth it, and I’m excited to bring that perspective into this space moving forward.

But Chasing Your Health is more than just my voice—it’s a community. A place to explore the ways food, lifestyle, and mindset can shape our health. It’s about being honest with the challenges we face (because life isn’t always green smoothies and gym selfies), while also celebrating the small wins that keep us moving forward.

What You Can Expect Here

As we step into this next season, Chasing Your Health will focus on four main things:

  1. Nutrition Made Simple – Breaking down the latest science into approachable tips you can use every day.

  2. Lifestyle & Balance – From meal planning and stress management to family life and finding joy in food.

  3. Real Conversations – Sharing my experiences as a dad, a dietitian, and a human who loves coffee, hiking, and the occasional brewery stop.

  4. Speaking Up – Sometimes, we’ll get political. Because ignoring facts is dangerous—and when health is on the line, silence isn’t an option. If you don’t agree, feel free to challenge me or unfollow me. What I won’t do is stay silent when truth and health are at stake.

You’ll see blog posts, recipes, resources, and personal stories—plus the occasional witty parenting moment (because Trey always keeps things entertaining).

Why the Reintroduction?

Because health is a journey, not a one-time event. Just like all of us, Chasing Your Health is evolving. I want to make sure this space reflects where I am now, but more importantly, where we’re going together.

Whether you’ve been here since day one or are just joining the community, thank you. My hope is that Chasing Your Health continues to inspire, educate, and empower you to take small steps toward your healthiest life—whatever that looks like for you.

So grab your coffee (I’ve already had mine), stick around, and let’s keep chasing health—together.

Stay well,
Chase
